Is there still a candlelight procession?

Yes, event goers will be able to participate in a candlelight event along the venue to the performance stage at the Fayetteville History Museum on Franklin St.

Is A Dickens Holiday event just at the Fayetteville History Museum?

All programmed activities by the Dickens Committee will center around the area at “Franklin Square” see map for location of these activities. Event goers can expect that downtown stores and restaurants may also participate in Dickens themed merchandise and specials and will be easily accessed by a short walk Follow the event on facebook to see the listing of business Dickens special promotions.

Will there be any other events in the historic downtown area?

Yes! The Arts Council will have vendors and activities along the Hay Street corridor in their program, “Holiday on Hay” which will begin at 3pm and continue until 9pm. Event goers will have easy access to those events and can go to and from Franklin Square to Hay Street along sidewalk access on Ray Street, Donaldson Street, Gillespie Street as well as on Maxwell Street which connects both events.

Will there be carriage rides?

Yes! Join the Cool Spring Downtown District for Holiday Carriage Rides. 

“We will bring our beautiful Queen Victoria Carriage to the district and provide private carriage rides on November 25 from 1pm-9pm at the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum located at 325 Franklin St.

One (1) ticket purchase covers the group of 2-6 people (on average, the carriage can fit 4 adults and 2 children). We strongly encourage 1 family per private carriage ride.***********

Each private carriage ride will take you on a scenic 15-17 minute ride through the district. Carriage Rides will depart from the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum located at 325 Franklin Street in 20 minute intervals.

Private carriage ride tickets will be a flat fee of $75 per private carriage ride. We strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to purchase your tickets in advance online.

Are the Characters like Scrooge going to be there?

Yes, event goers can expect a return of our favorite characters from A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, including Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the entire Crachitt Family, the Ghosts of Marley, Christmas Past, Present and Future!. Stay tuned to event page for more info

Can I dress up?

Yes, please dress up in your favorite Victorian era dress – many examples we will show in a series of posts to come on our social media page. You can also download our “Wardrobe Guideline” on the website.

Is there a Gingerbread Contest?

The Gingerbread Contest is not a part of our program, however you can still partake!
